This was one of my favorite films as a child. I rented it every time I had a slumber party. It scared me to death. I think that had to do with living in the country where rabid animals were something to be worried about.
As I watch it now, I realize it's not quite as scary as I remember it, but it's still worth watching.
The St. Bernard
- what a beautiful dog. In the film they used five different dogs plus
a mechanical head and a person in a dog costume.
The beginning
- the innocent bunny romping through the field. This is sooo cheesy.
I love it.
When Donna and
Tad are in the car and she opens the door and the camera focuses on
her leg - you keep expecting the dog to attack her leg, but he doesn't.
He attacks the other side - it's not what you were expecting so it scares
you even more.
The
angle of the camera is great.
The widening
shot of the car with Cujo watching it.
The camera going
around in circles in the car after Donna is attacked and Tab is crying.
The cheesy ending.
Donna exiting the house with Tab in her arms and Vic running up the
stairs to grab them. Cue the music.
Listen to me
Tad. There's no such thing as real monsters - only in stories. - Vic
Over. Donewith.
Gone. - Donna
It's not a monster.
It's just a doggy. - Donna
